Skin Care Products that actually WORK
I used to be a total skin care whore. (Ok, fine I still kind of am sometimes.) I would try everything — and after trying about five million products and spending I-don’t-even-want-to-know-how-much money, I realized MOST OF THEM DON’T WORK.
All that leg work and skepticism led me here. I never expect anything to work… and I don’t ever “imagine” results (placebo-effect style.)
But if something DOES work, I stick with it. Here are some of my favorites.
-
5-minute resurfacing peel with 15% glycolic acid (which is high - in a good way.) You just put it on clean skin, set your timer for five minutes, then rinse it off. My skin not only LOOKS refreshed after this but it FEELS so smooth! I use this several times a week and am afraid to run out of it now. It’s not super easy to find at drugstores for some reason but here it is on Amazon!

I have dry skin and sensitive skin, and I was introduced to Fresh Beauty’s “Seaberry Oil” (of which the main ingredient is sea buckthorn oil) a few years ago and FELL IN LOVE. It didn’t irritate my skin even when I was having a dermatitis flare up, calmed redness, and hydrated in a yummy, dewy way and not a greasy, saturated way. BUT it’s $84 for 1.6oz and Fresh was always sold out. IF you were able to find it anywhere else, it was even more expensive.
I started looking for alternatives and tried a few different types of sea buckthorn oils. My favorite was this one - it’s a perfect dupe for Fresh’s product, and it’s only $13 for 1oz on Amazon.

I first ordered this on one of my product purchasing frenzies when eczema(?!) or dermatitis (?!) (skin shit is always impossible to diagnose amirite??)
BUT what I found this to work beautifully on was bikini-area razor burn! I just apply a thin layer all over my freshly shaven delicate area and almost instantly razor burn and redness is noticeably quieted.
I can’t find this brand in drugstores, though, so check it out on Amazon.
